Simple Man

I am a simple man with simple thoughts
I speak simple and walk straight roads
I don’t take a left, or a right
I am kind of man doesn’t fight
I am full of lust and full of love
Scare me enough and I will bow
Full of fear and full of pain
Because I am just a simple man

Days will come and nights will go
Life of dreams I do not know
But, I am better than the rest of the world
And there is no other truth that I can hold
It may all just have been a dream
All the people and places I have been
And I don’t know who is who
Some will think, some will do
But there is not much that I can
Because I am just a simple man

I walk like a king in beggar’s shoes
I break my vows in my woes
Give me love, give me bread
Give me respect, break my head
Walk me a mile on autumn leaves
Tell me what the butcher believes
Then get me some meat and I will eat
And see how I don’t accept defeat
I never moved an inch and yet I ran
Because I am just a simple man
